“The culture at PLT is like nowhere else, from the day you join you’re part of a family.”
Why did you apply to work for us?
After finishing Uni I wanted to jump straight into a buying role. I knew PLT for being a fast-paced, forward-thinking and young hearted company – somewhere that I could see myself growing and enjoying my role.
What’s the best thing about working for us?
Definitely the people that work here, there’s always a great atmosphere and everyone is so friendly! From a buying perspective, I would say the opportunity to be super creative in your role.
How would you describe the culture?
The culture at PLT is like nowhere else, from the day you join you’re part of a family. The office is full of high energy – it’s chaotic but always fun!
What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?
An Assistant Buyer will work closely with their Buying Assistant and Junior Buyer daily. We work towards regular sign-offs by developing new ranges with the Junior Buyer, negotiating the best cost prices, holding fit sessions, and inputting all the relevant information into the sign-off pack. We ensure to monitor intake and publishing for the category by making sure deliveries are on track - working with our Buying Assistants to achieve this. We need to be aware of the marketplace by completing regular comp shop packs, and also be aware of category trading.
How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?
I started at PLT as a Buying Assistant and have learnt so much since. Due to the fast-paced work environment there’s always something to learn, ways to improve and opportunities to take. I’ve now progressed to Assistant Buyer on the dresses team with more industry knowledge and responsibility.
What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?
Probably presenting sign-off for the first time, or developing best-selling lines for the dresses team!
What makes someone successful here?
Make the most of every opportunity given to you, show your enthusiasm to go the extra mile, be yourself and love what you do!
What do you think makes us unique as an employer?
The amount PLT give back to their staff! We are fortunate enough to have frequent parties, drinks, social events, gifts and surprises throughout the year – hard work doesn’t go unrecognised.
