“The company has a family ethos even though it’s a global company.”
-
Why did you apply to work for us?
I applied to work for boohoo, firstly because I like the company’s product offering, the fashion concepts, the variety of styles and because I admire the way the company has grown so quickly in such a short space of time. I admire the fact the company has recorded its largest ever profit in the COVID-19 pandemic when companies are downsizing or going into administration.
-
What’s the best thing about working for us?
Working for a reputable brand, who is growing. Being able to be yourself, not having to conform or be something you are not. Casual attire and the amazing staff discount of brands.
-
How would you describe the culture?
The culture is very youthful and relaxed although we are a company listed on the LSE (London Stock Exchange). The culture is very fast paced as it’s an agile business but relaxed at the same time, the staff are down to earth, friendly and always willing to help and support. The culture allows you to make recommendations on how your department can improve processes.
-
What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?
My role is about building relationships with stakeholders from various departments (Marketing, E-commerce, Merchandising, Facilities, IT, HR, Finance and Legal). I gather their requirements and solicit proposals from various vendors at the most competitive price without compromising on quality to ensure business objectives are met. It’s quite different to other roles in which I have been more category focused and haven’t been able to lead/support different projects across different categories.
-
How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?
It’s still early days but I’m sure with the recent acquisitions of brands and potential acquisitions maybe there might be room for development nationally or globally.
-
What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?
It’s still early days but my biggest achievement would be the ability to be agile and work towards the ever-changing business needs. I have learnt a lot thus far and can only learn a lot more during the ever changing fast-paced business environment.
-
What makes someone successful here?
I believe establishing and maintaining relationships with your stakeholder, this is a people’s business, and no man is an island. Being brave to put yourself out there to work on different projects either leading or supporting. Challenging the way things are done and not being afraid to suggest or recommend things to be done differently.
-
What do you think makes us unique as an employer?
The company has a family ethos even though it’s a global company and listed on the stock exchange.
