“It’s a dream for a designer because nothing is off limits.”
Why did you apply to work for us?
It was about five years ago and I had always heard really good things about working for Karen Millen, great work, culture, and people. I also loved that the product was high-end quality and there was no-one else like it on the high street.
What’s the best thing about working for us?
The people. I love my buyer and my team, everyone gets on really well and supports each other. I’ve made some great friends at Karen Millen.
How would you describe the culture?
Motivational. Often presented with work perks during key weeks, black Friday week is always mad but a lot of fun. Lots of food, drink and music to keep you going.
What do you get up to in your role?
I design the knitwear collection and what makes Karen Millen different is that you can try anything. It’s a dream for a designer because nothing is off limits.
How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?
I started at Karen Millen as Knitwear Designer and have recently been promoted to Senior Designer. I have also been given the opportunity to launch the new swimwear collection which is a new and exciting challenge for me.
What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?
Relaunching the brand once boohoo bought Karen Millen. It was a huge challenge and a tiny team, but it’s been amazing to see the brand grow and go from strength to strength.
What makes someone successful here?
Positivity, agility, and resilience. It is really hard work but can be extremely rewarding.
What do you think makes us unique as an employer?
The employee benefits. Bonus scheme, share incentive scheme and enhanced maternity pay.
Describe working here in 3 words.
Challenging. Creative. Rewarding.
