What led you to, and keeps you at, boohoo group?
I’ve been at the Group for almost four years now, having worked for numerous corporate retailers, and the journey we’ve been on is incredible. You can see the difference between where we started to where we are now. The people are our foundation, and it’s them plus all the opportunities that keep me here. I was given a blank piece of paper to build out my function when I started at boohoo, which was really appealing. This tech team has incredible talent, and as a team and as a business, we work hard and have gone through tremendous growth – we’re very good at pulling in the same direction. There’s just something about boohoo group that pulls you here.
What’s your strategy, vision and leadership style?
I’m excited about the future. I want the Tech department to be cool, calm and collected – and delivering fantastic results. We’re very dynamic, and while I’ve been working here, we’ve always embraced the craziness – something huge is always happening! But now, we have our foundational tech changes underway and it’s the period for clear direction, focus and delivering on the promises we’ve been making. That’s my vision for the next 12-18 months.
As a leader, I am definitely not a micromanager! I’m very calm. I’m logical and approach things with an open mind. Things will go wrong, but I take responsibility for that, so my team can focus on how we fix and move forward. I’m all for empowering the team and not entertaining any blame culture or hierarchy. Wherever you work in this department, your opinion and perspective count. There’s clear trust, and I value everyone.
