“Bring your ideas to the table, be brave, make mistakes and learn from them.”

  • Why did you apply to work for us?

Many reasons! My role for starters is exciting and meaty, I really wanted to get into an e-commerce business, the culture, and I was really bought into the journey the Talent Acquisition team were taking. My role is part time and only one day from the office so I am able to commit to being a mum alongside committing to my career.

  • What’s the best thing about working for us?

The sense of opportunity and impact you can make. Whilst we are leaders in our industry, we are made up of multiple big name brands and our growth trajectory keeps continuing there is still an entrepreneurial and progressive feel to the business, there is always room to grow, evolve, improve and disrupt. I enjoy being able to challenge what we do, seek out better ways of working and being innovative and creative every day.

  • How would you describe the culture?

I am still amazed by the lack of hierarchy and red tape in comparison to other businesses I’ve worked at and what I expected of a business this size. Everyone, at every level, is approachable, engaged and is incredibly supportive, there is a real sense of team. We often talk about us as the boohoo family and it really does feel that way. We also love a party and boohoo knows how to party.

  • What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?

I support the Talent Acquisition team on hiring top talent. From auditing all our processes, policies, tools, partnerships to assess their suitability and ensure they are future proofed for our ambitious growth plans but also ensure we are always doing the best by our candidates, providing exciting experiences for them and showcasing life behind the scenes at the boohoo group. My role is different here because I can actually move and change at speed, implementing massive projects in short timeframes which will impact the group on a global level, my projects are supported financially and operationally and the business is really behind our vision and we are empowered to achieve it.

  • What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

Leading the project from end to end to launch this new career site in line with our new employer branding (in partnership with our agency DNA) and launching our new Applicant Tracking System (Workable) simultaneously. One project alone at this scale (13 brands, 6,000+ employees globally) would be challenging enough but completing them all within five months is something I’m truly proud of and consider career defining, especially given I only recently joined the Group after an extended maternity leave and am working on a part time basis.  It’s been an incredible journey already, and I’m so excited to see the global impact these projects will have on candidates, hiring managers and our recruiters and their experiences for the better.

  • What makes someone successful here?

Bring your ideas to the table, be brave, make mistakes and learn from them. We move at an incredible pace, so you need to be comfortable with evolution and a continuous push for improvement.

  • What do you think makes us unique as an employer?

People are empowered, have autonomy and can run with things but also with support from the wider business. In turn this fosters amazing creativity and innovation and a real sense of excitement and progression. And the people are simply wonderful!
