“The Nasty Gal Design team is an amazing team and we have a positive, enthusiastic and strong work dynamic. ”
-
Why did you apply to work for us?
I had previously worked for the Nasty Gal team as a Design Intern during my university placement year. I have always been a fan of the brand and liked the type of product that they produce.
-
What’s the best thing about working for us?
How rewarding the job is, going from designing a product that you really love and believe in to seeing it on the website and people wearing it. Absolutely nothing goes unnoticed in the workplace, and going above and beyond is always appreciated. The Nasty Gal Design team is an amazing team and we have a positive, enthusiastic and strong work dynamic. (Also, the parties are pretty great too!)
-
How would you describe the culture?
Work hard, party hard – and not just in the literal sense! If you’re passionate, agile and hard-working it never goes unnoticed by anyone. Everyone is kind and as enthusiastic as you are. There’s so many incentives and rewards for hard work, which pushes you to work to your full potential.
-
What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?
Day-to-day I’m constantly working on product development and driving newness for my areas. Whether I’m sketching up new collections, sourcing new exciting fabrications or working on new trend packs. I’m constantly learning and expanding on my knowledge of product, designing techniques and suppliers.

How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?
When I started my journey with the Nasty Gal team/boohoo group I started as a Design Intern on my placement year. I had an amazing nine months working with the Design team, but sadly got cut short by the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. I then went back to finish my degree but I kept in contact with my team and they invited me to come back in May. I initially started on the knitwear and outerwear teams, and then moved over to solely design for swimwear, beachwear, lingerie and nightwear.
-
What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?
Watching product that I have designed go onto the website and be shown on social media platforms. I have the responsibility of driving the direction and product for lingerie for Valentine’s this year. The product was shot in LA on a gorgeous model, and seeing the shots land on site and socials was a pinch me moment.
Growing the whole swimwear department is also an amazing achievement. Being trusted to solely design and drive the swimwear and beachwear department is a proud moment. Positive reactions from bosses, directors and other members of the team makes me even more excited for all the new products to be on site very soon.

What makes someone successful here?
