  • Why did you apply to work for us?

    I applied for a buying internship in 2018; boohoo offered a great opportunity for students looking to add industry experience to their CV. I knew the company invested time and gave responsibility to their interns and was excited to start working at a young company who also offered a great social aspect to the role. Menswear was also a great opportunity to expand my knowledge, with my degree focusing heavily on womenswear. 

  • What’s the best thing about working for us?

    The best thing about working for boohoo is the confidence they put into their staff, they give you the opportunity to progress and learn about all functions of the business. boohoo also encourage everyone to socialise and get to know each other on a personal level which is great.

  • How would you describe the culture?

    The boohoo culture is family orientated; everyone works closely together. It’s great to learn from the other brands who all offer something different. boohoo create a fun environment to work in, everyone is personable and approachable.

  • What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?

    My role focuses on product; booking appropriate products for our consumer whilst also chasing the product in and getting it on site quickly. We work very closely with merchandising and also design and the studio team to get this done. I speak with suppliers on a daily basis to help build a product range that can be delivered quickly to the consumer.

  • How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?

    Starting as a buying intern, I spent a year on menswear and was then able to continue working as a buying admin whilst finishing my degree. After graduating, I continued working as a Buying Admin Assistant before being promoted to Assistant Buyer. Since starting at boohoo I have constantly learnt new things and developed my skills in buying by being given more responsibility and opportunities.

  • What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

    Being promoted to Assistant Buyer has been my proudest moment so far!

  • What makes someone successful here?

    An eagerness to learn and be a team player, we work very closely as a team to deliver product so this is really key. The business is fast paced and always introducing new ideas so agility and being able to work under time pressure is also important, along with being creative.

  • What do you think makes us unique as an employer?

    boohoo have a great work and social balance, we are often rewarded with parties and free drinks at work for our hard work. Everyone is also given opportunities to progress and encouraged to contribute our ideas across the team, even as junior members of staff. This also means we are encouraged to work with higher members of the team and can show our work to management level.
