“This is a fast paced business so don’t stand on ceremony waiting for approval, back yourself and do what you think is right.”
-
Why did you apply to work for us?
The chance to join a new team and help to build a new function for the business was an exciting challenge. It’s also an industry I’ve not worked in before and I liked the idea of being outside of my comfort zone and testing myself in a new environment.
-
What’s the best thing about working for us?
There is always so much happening that it is impossible to be bored! It’s a bit of a cliché but every day really is different here and that keeps you on your toes.
-
How would you describe the culture?
This is a fast paced business so don’t stand on ceremony waiting for approval, back yourself and do what you think is right. Within reason, of course!
-
What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?
Corporate Affairs can be quite a stuffy, formal area of the business so we make a conscious effort not to be. We try to engage people in a way that feels authentic to our business, reflecting the personality of our brands.
-
How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?
I have had the chance to get involved with some great projects already and do things that wouldn’t ordinarily sit within our team. That has been a great way to meet new people across the business and learn new skills.
-
What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?
We launched an Economic Impact Report last year which detailed the contribution boohoo group makes to the UK and it got great pick-up in the media and with politicians. It really helped us to demonstrate how the growth of boohoo has benefitted everyone, through the taxes we pay and the jobs we support across our supply chain.
-
What makes someone successful here?
I really like the way leaders across the business are approachable and open to persuasion. If you have belief in yourself and what are you trying to achieve, people will support you.
-
What do you think makes us unique as an employer?
There is a pretty legendary party culture here but having multiple different brands in one business feels very different to other places I’ve worked before. Having that diversity in terms of brand identity and customer base means everyone has their own different ways of working. Navigating that can be a challenge but, from our team’s perspective, it gives us so much content to be speaking about with the media and stakeholders.

Describe working here in 3 words.
