“I love how we are constantly expanding and bettering ourselves.”

  • Why did you apply to work for us?

In recent years, the fashion industry has undergone a massive change from bricks and mortar to being a predominantly online experience. For me it was important to be part of a company that is growing, agile, understands the importance of marketing and is quick to respond to changes within the industry.

  • What’s the best thing about working for us?

I love how we are constantly expanding and bettering ourselves. From travelling to meet new suppliers, to working with celebrities and influencers. We will always try and do better than last week.

  • How would you describe the culture?

The Wallis team, and boohoo in general, is like a family. We are constantly encouraged to be ourselves, try new things and have fun whilst doing it. It is hard work, but the team makes it worthwhile and rewarding.

  • What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?

No two days are the same at boohoo. The start of my week involves review and analysing the previous week’s trade to see what worked and what could have been better. I will then act on that and make sure that any best sellers have been actioned for future weeks. The rest on my week involves meeting with suppliers and working with our Design and Merchandising team to range build and book new orders. Occasionally we will carry out international trips to see suppliers. I find that the freedom we have as Buyers is very different here when compared to me previous roles. Signoffs are pretty quick and if we feel passionately about a trend or a print, we can go for it!

  • How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?

Since starting, I have moved internally within departments and have taken on a much bigger role than I was initially hired to do.

  • What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

Being part of the process to launch a collaborative collection with Christine Lampard.

  • What makes someone successful here?

To be successful here you have to be able to constantly adapt and move quickly.

  • What do you think makes us unique as an employer?

Due to the size and the agility of the group, there are many opportunities that other employers wouldn’t be able to offer. I have seen many people move around within their roles and move to other brands and countries.

  • Describe working here in 3 words.

    Exciting. Challenging. Rewarding.
