“The increase in skills and knowledge since I have started is unbelievable!”

  • Why did you apply to work for us?

    I completed my degree in Maths and Physics around January, in which my master’s dissertation was based mainly around data analytics and statistics. This was a project I really enjoyed and wanted to pursue further in more of a real-world context, so when an opportunity popped up to start on this career path with a household name company, I jumped at the chance!

  • What’s the best thing about working for us?

    The opportunities to learn and for progression is a major plus. When I started, coming straight out of Uni, there were some practical skills I was missing which were needed for my role. I was provided with the best resources and opportunities available to help me learn and progress further in the role. The increase in skills and knowledge since I have started is unbelievable!

  • How would you describe the culture?

    One of the main things that is spoken about when working within my team is the ‘PLT Buzz’. The dynamic not only between team members but between whole teams is great, meaning work is so much easier as everyone is approachable and willing to help! The social side of working for PLT is amazing as well, with regular events which help keep everyone extra motivated to do the best job they possible could do!

  • What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?

    My role consists of analysing and compiling data from various sources to help support teams such as Buying, Merchandising and Marketing to make strategic and informed decisions moving forward and to draw conclusions about what was done well and what could be improved from previous seasons, for example. 

    The difference between this and the learning and experience I had prior to starting this role is that you can see the real-world applications of your work and can see the impact you’re having on a wide scale.

  • How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?

    I have progressed from being a novice in the full-time working world to being comfortable within a working team environment and communicating with a wide network of key stakeholders. I was supported by PLT by being able to have access to training courses to upskill me for this role to help me progress further within the company which will stand me in good stead when it comes to progression within the role.

  • What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

    Being able to take the lead on a major piece of end of season reporting within my first two months of being at the company and knocking it out of the park if I do say so myself!

  • What makes someone successful here?

    Being able to have conversations with everyone and anyone! Another thing that would make someone successful is just to be yourself at all times, it is the best way to get along with people and form strong relationships within the workplace.
