Our technical team are looking for a strong and confident individual to join the team as a Senior Garment Technologist, working within a team of quality experts and sat alongside one of the Buying & Merchandising teams daily. This role will report directly to the Technical Manager, manage Junior Technologists and work on a highly profitable area of our womenswear collections.

This is a role where you can work at pace, develop your technical strategy skills and lead and mentor junior team members.

YOUR TEAM

In Garment Technology, we obsess about our products' quality, design, and fit. We collaborate daily with the Buying and Design teams across the Group. We’ve even opened an in-house lab. For us, it’s all about speed, being commercial and ensuring our customers look and feel their best.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Conduct fit sessions for own high option, high profile product area(s) in-house
  • You will balance speed and quality; making commercial decisions with confidence; owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from Tech Manager to colleagues and suppliers
  • Supporting the Technical team and Tech Manager in managing fit sessions and product areas and managing Junior Techs.
  • Sending clear, concise and accurate comments to suppliers; processing samples in a timely and agile manner, in line with KPI's
  • Liaising with design, buying and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs and improving quality
  • Working directly with the suppliers and technical team to improve on areas of weakness, including in house training and development of the Technical team
  • Ensuring compliance with product safety and reach legislation; assessing risk, advising on relevant testing; recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently
  • Contributing to initiatives to reduce customer returns
  • Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude
  • Identifying and managing new projects, feeding back to the Tech manager
  • Feeding back to Tech Manager, peers and Technologists with recommendations for improvements to procedures and practices.

MORE ABOUT YOU

  • Previous experience in a senior role essential in a similar senior role and fast paced environment
  • A technically-oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential
  • Able to work both individually and part of a team essential, with ability to inspire and motivate team members
  • Multi-product experience including fringe areas; ability to move between product areas
  • Confident and strong individual, with ability to manage the team, expectations as well as their own fit sessions
  • Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential
  • Pattern cutting knowledge and practise is very desirable alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules
  • Knowledge and experience of Gerber and/or similar Pattern system essential
  • Experience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of factory production, including work-flow and production control
  • First class communication skills to both the QA manager and wider team essential
  • Keen interest in overseas travel essential
  • Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude
  • Strong time-management skills; able to prioritise tasks and change direction with agility
  • Confident using Outlook, Excel and Word. Keen to expand skill set as the role demands.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

If we think you could be a good fit for the role, you will be asked to have an informal conversation with one of our Talent Partners.

If successful from this meeting, you will then be asked to meet with the Line Manager at our Dale Street HQ. They will go through your experience in more detail and find out what value you could bring to the team.

Most of our processes are 2 stage’s and you may be required to meet Senior Leadership or present a task/project back to the Line Manager.
