As a Lead Java Developer at boohoo group, you will play a key role in leading and mentoring our Java development team to create and deliver high-quality solutions for our online fashion retail platform. You will lead the developers in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable microservices. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in Java, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UX/UI Design, and QA to deliver robust and innovative solutions that enhance our e-commerce platform. The Java Development team currently deliver a large portion of the middleware and backend microservices that supports our ecommerce platforms, supply chain and internal core system.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Java developers, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Oversee the design, costing, development, and deployment of high-quality, scalable Java applications.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure the delivery of clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Manage project timelines, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Ownership and wellbeing of the services the team is responsible for.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive experience in Java development, with a strong understanding of Java 11 (17 preferred) and Spring Boot Framework.
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring development teams.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Proficient in database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and the fashion retail industry is a plus.
