The role

The Ethical Compliance Manager in China for Boohoo plays a critical role in ensuring that our supply chain, Suppliers, Factories, CFS centres adhere to ethical standards, sustainability principles, and regulatory requirements. . Therefore this role requires the Manager to have flexibility to travel around their home country and on a International basis. This leadership position involves developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive ethical compliance programs to uphold our commitment to responsible business practices.
The team

Responsible Sourcing and Product Operations is reimagining how the Group works globally. We cover Sustainability, Sourcing, Ethical Trade, Product Quality and Operational Efficiency. What you'll be doing

  • Develop, implement, and update corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance in line with Chinese laws such as the Anti-Unfair Competition Law, Anti-Monopoly Law, and Cybersecurity Law, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Ensure that policies comply with international standards, like anti-corruption guidelines set by the OECD and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
  • Organise and conduct regular training sessions for employees on compliance topics, including anti[1]corruption, anti-bribery, data protection, and workplace ethics.

  • Implement monitoring systems to track compliance and detect any breaches or areas of concern. Ensuring that local compliance efforts reflect and are aligned with Boohoo’s
  • Identify and assess potential compliance risks within the context of China’s regulatory environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, such as establishing whistle-blower mechanisms.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of compliance activities, audits, investigations, and training sessions.
  • Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and the Group director, highlighting any issues or improvements needed.
  • Lead and manage investigations into allegations of non-compliance or unethical behaviour, ensuring due process and confidentiality. Ensuring employees found in violation that corrective measures are put in place in accordance with local labour laws.
  • Act as the primary contact between the company and Chinese regulatory authorities, such as the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the Ministry of Public Security. Ensuring timely and accurate reporting to these authorities as and when required.
  • Provide guidance on ethical issues and decision-making processes to management and employees, taking into account local cultural norms and legal requirements. Fostering a culture that emphasizes integrity and Ethical Behaviour.
  • Lead supplier/ Factory / CFS audits and evaluations to assess ethical, social, and environmental practices, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Continuously improve the compliance program based on audit findings, feedback from employees, and changes in the regulatory environment.
  • Stay informed about changes in Pakistani laws and regulations, as well as international compliance standards.
  • Oversee Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to ensure they comply with ethical standards and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share best practices, align goals, and drive collective ethical impact.
  • Establish robust reporting mechanisms to track and communicate ethical compliance metrics, progress, and initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Drive the company's commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and responsible business practices, contributing to a positive ethical reputation within the fashion industry

More about you

  • Proven experience in ethical compliance management, preferably in the fashion or retail industry.
  • In-depth understanding of ethical sourcing, social responsibility, sustainability, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, transparency tools, and sustainability certifications.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess ethical risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in developing and delivering compliance training programs.
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or relevant certifications are advantageous.
