  • Why did you apply to work for us?

    I’ve spent the last 6-7 years building up my skills within tech recruitment in the financial service and hospitality industry and wanted to take on a role that would be more challenging in a fast-paced environment. I’d heard a great deal about boohoo’s growth and understood the technology function would be a key area of growth and wanted to be part of that.

  • What’s the best thing about working for us?

    The people! Everyone is so easy to get on with and genuinely most of the teams are looking to address goals that are in line with our objectives, so it really feels like a hand-in-hand approach, with the autonomy to be able to make decisions that benefit the team.

  • How would you describe the culture?

    Overall, I would say it’s a very respectful and collaborative culture. The hierarchy here is the flattest I’ve ever seen compared with previous places I’ve worked at. As mentioned, most people are working towards one common goal and through that it gives people the space to be innovative and try new things out in a fun and flexible environment.

  • What do you get up to in your role? What makes it different compared with other similar roles you’ve had?

    Every single day is quite different. I’m involved in the full end-to-end process of the recruitment lifecycle, but with this role I am much more involved in the stakeholder management and strategy side of things which is what I was looking for from my next role.

  • How has your career developed since you’ve worked here?

    I’ve already touched on it slightly, but I’ve developed so much more in my career in the last nine months versus over a year in other companies. In my role here, I’ve been able to take a lead on how tech recruitment should be done and what improvements I would make, learning from previous experiences.

  • What’s been your biggest achievement/proudest moment so far?

    There’s been a number of proud moments such as growing the tech talent acquisition team and bringing in a new PSL which is aligned specifically to job functions was really good. However, having two new job boards signed off (CW Jobs & Hack-a-job) which has massively helped bringing external costs down would be one of my biggest achievements to date.

  • What makes someone successful here?

    The drive to be successful. If you want to succeed and are really passionate about the area you are working in – there is more than enough opportunity to join boohoo and actually make a difference with new ideas that will actually get heard and implemented if it hasn’t before.

  • What do you think makes us unique as an employer?

    The combination of being a very fun environment to work in (the parties so far have been legendary) and I think it really lives by the motto ‘work hard, play hard.’ At boohoo, the opportunity to bring about change is definitely there, which causes its own issues, but the people are there to support and regular social meetups to relax with the team and get to know other wider departments.
